Hole Description:

Downhill tee shot to a plateau. A drive of about 245-260 yards should favor left center to avoid the fairway bunkers and creek on the right side. This will set up the best angle for your second shot. The green is well protected with a bunker short right and a creek behind the green. Do not go long on this green.

History

The plans for Quail Creek Golf and Country Club began in 1959. The golf course, clubhouse design and construction followed in 1960-1961. Golf Course Architect, Floyd Farley was selected to design and construct the golf course in 1960, at the same time Ernie Vossler became the first PGA Head Golf Professional.  Quail Creek has been called home by only 5 other PGA Head Golf Professionals in its 60+ year history.

Quail Creek Golf and Country Club has played host to many prestigious events in the past that include: the Oklahoma City Open from 1962-68 (won by Arnold Palmer in 1964 and Tony Lema in 1966). The club hosted the Southwestern Bell Golf Classic in 1987, and the Silver Pages from 1988-90 which was some of the earlier tournaments on the Champions Tour. PGA Director of Golf, Larry Fryer along with the members of Quail Creek hosted the Heartland Pro-Am in 1995 benefiting the Children’s Daycare Center that was devastated in the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building.

The course was also recognized in 1965 by Sports Illustrated magazine as having the “Best 17th Hole in America."
